Marignan Partners has advised Groupe Les Echos-Le Parisien on the acquisition of GreenUnivers and the development of its new media platform 2050NOW.
GreenUnivers, a leading media outlet for economic and financial news on the energy transition, was created in 2008 by journalists Patricia Laurent and Laurence Benhamou, along with Julien Foulquier.
As the primary information source for energy transition professionals, GreenUnivers has experienced significant growth, with a 25% increase in subscribers and revenue in recent years.
Groupe Les Echos-Le Parisien continues to build 2050NOW, its media dedicated to the energy transition, by leveraging the expertise and credibility of this pioneering specialized media outlet.
This acquisition will enable 2050NOW to rapidly scale up, with plans to develop additional specialized newsletters, both free and paid, in French and English, on the topic of the energy transition in the coming months.
Pierre LOUETTE, President of 2050NOW and CEO of Groupe Les Echos-Le Parisien, stated: “A few weeks after the launch of our 2050NOW Initiative, I am delighted with the acquisition of GreenUnivers, which, through the excellence of its content, has held the leading position in specialized media covering the energy transition for the past 15 years. This transaction reflects our ambition to make 2050NOW a leading media and knowledge hub on the key ecological transition issues, whether societal or economic.”
Patricia LAURENT, co-founder and president of GreenUnivers, added: “As a 100% digital media, GreenUnivers was created in 2008 in the heart of the then-emerging energy transition ecosystem, with a clear ambition: to provide high-value information to professionals. Having become the leading economic media in the sector, we must now support the scale-up of this transition. By joining Groupe Les Echos-Le Parisien, we will be able to accelerate the deployment of our projects.”
The Marignan Partners deal team was composed of Benjamin Prévost and Jordan Jablonka on M&A aspects and Marie de Combles de Nayves on intellectual property aspects.
